John Pidgley was born about 1883 in Surrey.He was the son of James Pidgely and Sabina Ayres.

He joined the Devonshire Regiment after residing in Kingston in Dorset.His service number was 36314 and he served a Short Service Attestation.He joined on June 5th, 1916 and was discharged on 1st February 1917 due to no longer being physically fit, due to defective vision in both eyes, possibly Mystamus and re-joined his family on a Gypsy Encampment in West Howe, Dorset.

John Pidgley married Mary Barnes on 28th March 1910 and they had several children.

John’s death was registered in December 1950 in Bournemouth Dorset.
